New Link to Photos!!
I'm trying a new method of uploading photos for my galleries. If you click on my Flicker Link, it will take you to a page which features new photos of my work. This should allow you to show clients the full range of pieces that I make. It will also have photos of me working on the wheel, kiln loads, the firing process etc.....Hopefully, it will allow you to keep up to date with the work!!

Artist Info Controversy

Over the years, many galleries have adopted the practice of not identifying the artist whose work is displayed on their shelves....I don't sell directly from my studio, actually most of the work coming out of the kiln never sees the inside of the studio! It's taken right from the kiln, to the shipping box and onto the back of the UPS truck. So there is nothing in the studio to sell. The work involved in doing retail shows is so grueling that I quit that years ago and my annual studio sale is invitation only to friends and family. So the only place to get my work is through my galleries.
I know from experience that people really like to know the artists background, what differentiates this work from other similar pieces, what techniques were used, the artists thoughts about the line. Years ago, before desktop publishing, galleries would beg craftspeople to get slick bio cards made with photos and resumes because they understood how much this info could help sell the work. I know that in the era of simple web searches that contacting the artist and going around the gallery is easy and galleries who have supported their artists shouldn't risk losing sales. I'd love to hear from galleries, craftspeople and long-time clients who have creative ideas on how to handle this problem. I think having my information displayed with my work would enhance the experience of shopping within the gallery space, instead of online!

Royce Yoder
Check out wonderful potter and great friend Royce Yoder's work. I've been friends with Royce for over 20 years now and his commitment to his work and his family is really an inspiration. Royce really sets the standard for professionalism in this medium.

Fallingwater
I'm really looking forward to showing my work at the gallery at Fallingwater again this year. This Frank Lloyd Wright structure is truly amazing... anyone traveling through Pennsylvania should try and make time to see it
Gallery Notes
The Hoadley Gallery, which has been carrying my work for several years now has a fantastic website. Their gallery is also exceptionally beautiful and I'm thrilled to be in the company of so many fine artists. Thomas Hoadley has been making wonderful pots for many years and has been a tremendous inspiration to many potters, including myself.
Glenn Johnson of the Handworks Gallery in Acton, Massachusetts has a great eye and always orders a very interesting mix of my work. Handworks represents a great mix of artists in all mediums. Check out their website for more information and check out future posts for delivery dates of my work to Handworks. (and my other galleries)
